Massachusetts building codes

Massachusetts regulates construction through the State Building Code (780 CMR), promulgated by the Board of Building Regulations and Standards. The 8th Edition adopted the 2009 International Codes as its base, with Massachusetts amendments, effective August 2010 until the 9th Edition took effect in October 2017. Massachusetts regulates plumbing and certain trades under separate state codes rather than the ICC IPC/IMC.
