Rhode Island building codes

Rhode Island adopts a unified statewide State Building Code (the SBC regulation series) through the State Building Code Standards Committee. Effective July 1, 2010, the SBC adopted the 2009 editions of the International Building, Residential, Fire, and Energy Conservation Codes, with Rhode Island amendments, until later code cycles. The model-code text below is the edition the state adopted.

Where verbatim source text is shown, it is reproduced from the code as adopted into law by the jurisdiction, sourced from public.resource.org under the government edicts doctrine (see Georgia v.
