West Virginia building codes

West Virginia adopts a statewide State Building Code through the State Fire Commission as Legislative Rule 87 CSR 4, applied as a baseline that local jurisdictions elect to enforce. The 2009 International Residential Code served as the residential building standard within the State Building Code, and the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code functioned as the state's residential energy code. The model-code text below is the edition the state incorporated.

Where verbatim source text is shown, it is reproduced from the code as adopted into law by the jurisdiction, sourced from public.resource.org under the government edicts doctrine (see Georgia v.
