Washington building codes
Washington adopts statewide construction codes through the State Building Code Council (SBCC). The 2009 Washington State Building Code was adopted by the Council on November 12, 2009 and took effect July 1, 2010, incorporating editions of the International Codes by reference under Title 51 of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC). The model-code text below is the edition Washington incorporated; the state applies its own amendments on top, and uses the Uniform Plumbing Code and its own State Energy Code rather than the ICC plumbing and energy codes.
